2021-2023: NIA R36 Dissertation Award to Increase Diversity
Role: PI. While I just recently started this funding mechanism, this fellowship will allow me to focus on finishing my dissertation benchwork. The entirety of this application process taught me a lot about persistence, community and pursuing what is important to you for your career, especially as a Black women in STEM, and I look forward to using the time with this fellowship to push for an additional publication from my research.
2019 - 2021: NIH Diversity Supplemental Fellowship
Role: Fellow. As an NIH Diversity fellow, I was provided with the opportunity to take on a new project during my Ph.D. This allowed me to gain additional lab skills and knowledge that I most likely wouldn't have received due to the nature of my primary dissertation project. This financial support allowed me to focus on and expand my benchwork, while also gaining insight into project management, collaboration and the important of communication in mentorship.
